PLANT & SEED SWAP

2010 Plant Swap Rota

Our annual Seedy Saturday and weekly Plant & Seed swaps in the summer are a great way to meet keen growers and to get started - even if it's just lettuces on a window sill or a tomato plant on a patio.

The Plant & Seed swap is held every Saturday during the summer between 10am and midday at St Bartholomew's churchyard, as long as the weather isn't atrocious.

Plant swap stallIf you can help out on the stall every now and again between 10am and midday on Saturdays, we'd love to hear from you. Otherwise just come down and swap your spare plants for something new!

If you've got any spare plant pots (especially small ones) we will gratefully take them off your hands. Likewise if you need containers to pot up any seedlings, runners or cuttings from your garden, we may have some donated by another swapper.

In 2010 our Seedy Saturday took place on 27th March then Plant & Seed swap restarts on Saturday 10th April.

Cloches from recycled street lights

Cloches from street light coversThanks to Southern Electric and Cornwall Council, Transition Lostwithiel has been able to obtain shades from the street lights which were replaced last year with low energy versions.

Scrapstore

This year we've been growing on lots of seeds in a donated greenhouse. The water butts and containers were free from Scrapstore of which Transition Lostwithiel is a member. Individuals can join too.

Donations

The Plant & Seed Swap stall is a place to swap spare seeds, seedlings and plants. We ask people who do not have anything to swap to make a donation for the plants they take away. After the final swap of the year we split the donations with St Bart's and Transition Lostwithiel projects. Read more about what donations are spent on.
