Seedy Saturday

Community seed and seedling swap in partnership with Duchy of Cornwall Nursery

Saturday 22nd March 9am-1pm, Church Rooms

Lostwithiel's first Seedy Saturday was a great success - over the course of the morning more than 100 people came in to browse, discuss and swap seeds and seedlings.

The event was organised by Pauline Anthony and Maggie Robshaw. Transition Lostwithiel had a display about Peak Oil and past events held by the group, while Duchy of Cornwall Nursery were on hand to lend advice and encouragement.

See pictures and an account of the event below or visit the Duchy of Cornwall Nursery website

"The morning of Seedy Saturday started early but soon we were welcoming folk in to the church hall where, along the trestles, there was a good selection of seeds brought in by gardeners to be swapped or given away. Vegetables, herbs and flowers and even ready chitted seed potatoes.

Maggie and I enthusiastically enjoyed encouraging all who ventured in. Altogether a thoroughly successful morning.

Now how to reach all those budding gardeners who are waiting to take the plunge into growing their own produce!" Pauline Anthony
