ENERGISE

Looking at the bright future of energy in Cornwall

Friday 29th February and Saturday 1st March, Scout Hut

We had three excellent events covering the important areas of energy for Lostwithiel:

Renewable energy for the home
Friday 29th February, 7pm-9pm

Dr Matthew Trewhella of Independent Energy advised us on the most appropriate renewable energy sources for our homes. Generating electricity or heat for your home can quickly pay for itself, but it's not just a question of crunching numbers to work out the best option - it has to fit in with your home and lifestyle.
Listen to the talk and see the facts and figures...

Energy saving and efficiency
Saturday 1st March, 10am-12:30pm

Matthew Trevaskis from eco-drive demonstrated his electric car and held a workshop on how we can reduce our energy use. It's great if we can generate your own electricity from renewable sources but pointless if we use it all up by leaving appliances on stand-by! Matt showed us how to measure energy use and minimise wasted energy.

Community energy projects
Saturday 1st March, 2pm-4pm

Community Energy Plus presented options for community renewable energy projects, and Bill Andrews gave a talk about the South Wheatley community project.

CEP offer support and guidance for community energy projects, and suggested three options for Lostwithiel based on its geography and climate. Listen to the presentation on community renewable energy schemes for Lostwithiel...

Bill is an engineer with a wealth of experience from building a community wind turbine in his home of South Wheatley. He was involved in every stage from planning applications, feasibility studies, funding and finally, the installation of the turbine. Listen to his account of the pitfalls and how to get round them...
