COMMUNITY ORCHARD TREE PLANTING
The Brambles, Saturday 12th December, 10am
Read the Cornish Guardian article about the tree planting
We had a beautiful sunny morning to plant four trees at The Brambles in Lostwithiel. This will hopefully be the first of many community tree plantings in and around Lostwithiel.
Four varieties have been planted, three of which are Cornish and one with strong Cornish connections. They are
- American Mother - a dessert apple with Cornish connections
- Captain Broad - a bittersweet cider variety from Golant
- Ben's Red - a Cornish dessert apple variety
- King Byerd - a Cornish cooking/eating variety
This community tree planting follows shortly after other local plantings: Transition Lostwithiel were invited to intend an event at St Winnow School on December 4th and took part in Tree O'Clock on December 5th.
