LOSTWITHIEL FESTIVAL 2008

Saturday 11th May, Lostwithiel

Apart from a short thunderstorm at the end of the afternoon, the weather was fantastic and the 2008 Lostwithiel Festival was a great success. There were arts, crafts and produce stalls dotted all over town, a children's entertainer, dancing and music.

Transition Lostwithiel's stall was under the trees next to the river. We enjoyed a steady stream of visitors and enquiries. Our eye-catching home-made bunting and banner was created with recycled fabrics in true Transition spirit. We are indebted to the Lerryn WI for the loan of their banner stand.

One half of the Transition Lostwithiel stall was devoted to leaflets and books about Transition issues, including Rob Hopkins' Transition Handbook: From Oil Dependency to Local Resilience which was published this year.

Busy stall at the festivalThe other half of the stall was home to a Plant Swap, demonstrating the kind of events and activities that Transition Lostwithiel is promoting.

A variety of young plants and chitted potatoes went to good homes very quickly, with lots of people expressing interest in the weekly Plant Swap at the the church book sale.

The Plant Swap takes place every Saturday between 10am and 1pm at St Bartholomew's Church.
